Demolition and Repair Work
In late 2023, an independent marina condition assessment concluded that the majority of docks at Mosquito Creek Marina (MCM) had reached their end of serviceable life. MCM issued a notice to non-resident moorage customers to remove all property from the Marina by spring of 2024, with access to the Marina restricted to full-time resident moorage customers only as of June 2024.
MCM teams then began the process of relocating moorage customers of liveaboard boats, liveaboard boatsheds, and float homes to secured areas of the Marina in preparation for the upcoming demolition and repair work.
Demolition began in December 2024, with repairs set for completion at the end February 2025. Nch’ḵay̓ and Mosquito Creek Marina are committed to removing all materials designated to be replaced or removed and disposing of them in an environmentally acceptable manner. An environmental monitor will be on-site at all times while marine work takes place to help ensure all permitting and regulatory requirements have been met and that remediation takes place the most sustainable way possible.
Nch’ḵay̓ and the Squamish Nation remain focused on the safety and security of the Marina, our staff, and our moorage customers while this work takes place.
